The Virginia Beer Company is Hiring for:

Field Sales Representative

The Virginia Beer Co. (VBC) is seeking energetic personalities to join our growing full-time sales team. VBC enters the new year with an expanded distribution footprint across Virginia, in New York, and Overseas. Here in the Commonwealth, this includes growth in the Greater Richmond (RVA) market as well as the Northern Virginia (NoVA) market. If you’ve got the goods and want to be on a winning team poised for great things, we want to hear from you!

Your role should you choose to accept it includes (but is not limited to): inventory management, event & brand feature coordination, introducing VBC to the public (and educating them on all things Virginia Beer Co.), being a stalwart liaison between VBC and our distribution partners, and acting as the direct brand representative to beer buyers of all stripes…all while growing an exciting craft beer brand across the Commonwealth with purpose.

To apply, please send your resume, cover letter, and a sonnet about your passion for craft beer to: [email protected]

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Your primary goal is to sell delicious beer and convert non-buyers into VBC groupies!
  • Help VBC to engage new buyers/fans/lifers with a refreshed core lineup and limited rotating releases.
  • By spreading the good word about Free Verse IPA, you will be instrumental in rocketing one of the best-selling Virginia brewed IPA’s to the top of the leaderboard.
  • Achieve “favorite child” status with our wholesalers & retailers to maintain and increase on-premise and off-premise distribution and visibility.
  • Become the recipient of your own You Dropped This meme by working with accounts & distro partners to lock in features, build displays, and execute promotions…all the while educating customers on all things Virginia Beer Co.
  • Proactively channel your inner-Monica Geller to manage wholesaler inventories, check code dates, and rotate products at retail accounts.
  • Confidently develop weekly plans & recap reports and work with VBC leadership including the Director of Sales to boldly go where no sales professionals have gone before.

The Deal Breakers:

  • At least 2 years of relative sales experience (and/or a winning enough personality to make us forego that).
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills that amaze (aka, that inner-Monica), including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace suites.
  • Being a self-starter and effective time management are truly essential!
  • Willingness/Flexibility to work nights and weekends, as agreed upon and needed.
  • Competitive, go-getter attitude that is prepared to fight for increased distribution and exceed sales goals, with the ability to bounce back from rejection (you will probably hear “NO” here and there).
  • Positivity, Positivity, Positivity — in person, on social media, and across the industry. We’re all about “beers & cheers” after all!
  • A valid driver’s license and a working motorized vehicle.
  • The resolve to become a windshield warrior repping VBC in your territory, and occasionally here in Williamsburg too.
  • The willingness to become TIPS certified and (at least) a Level 1 certified Cicerone.
  • Must reside in Northern Virginia or Central Virginia!

About The Virginia Beer Company:

Our beers are only as good as the people with whom we share them. That starts with a talented team and extends to our guests, Full-Time Friends Social Club, and the people in our communities. Together we’ve worked to create a dynamic taproom & beer garden environment along with an ever-evolving rotation of small batch recipes fit for all, and which reflect the positive spirit of our brewery.

VBC offers competitive wages & benefits commensurate with role responsibilities, market conditions, and experience. In addition, full-time roles include access to full medical & dental insurance, paid time off, and lots of beer. Most importantly, VBC offers the ability to grow with the brewery as we grow. While backgrounds in the brewing industry and/or within the bar & restaurant worlds are helpful, they are not required — even more important: passion for the community.

Our company mantra is Beer · People · Purpose. We are dedicated to engaging the community around us and giving back to it. Whether it be the beers we brew, the events we host, or the interactions we have with anyone who enjoys our beers — our entire team (Taproom, Sales, Production, Management) must be excited about the opportunity to work together to build up and give back to the communities in which we live, brew, and play.
