Russell's Reserve Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Anniversary Milk Stout conditioned on Espresso Beans
An annual tradition in celebration of The Virginia Beer Company’s anniversary, each year our brewers unveil a limited selection of barrel-aged Waypost variants.
Waypost (a marker to note one’s progress along the path forward) is an Imperial Milk Stout. Dark, rich, and creamy, the 2025 vintages of this recipe have been aged in Russell’s Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
To celebrate 9 years, we are proud to unveil two limited Bourbon Barrel-Aged Waypost offerings, including this limited variant created with Richmond’s Ironclad Coffee Roasters & Baking Co.:
Espresso Waypost [12.4%]: It’s no secret that our Brewmaster moonlights as a Master Roaster in his spare time. As a Richmond resident, he often finds himself enjoying the craft-roasted specialty coffees created at RVA’s Ironclad Coffee Roasters. Combining shared passions for fine liquid, we’ve conditioned this limited variant of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Waypost on Ironclad’s flagship Bare-Kunckle Espresso Beans. Bare-Knuckle is a blend of Ironclad’s Brazil Poco Fundo (full natural / dry process) and Ethiopia Worka Sakaro (anaerobic natural / aka, “wine” process). This additional conditioning creates a rich, roasty finish with finessed flavours of sweet cream and bittersweet chocolate.
