An annual tradition in celebration The Virginia Beer Company’s anniversary, each March our brewers unveil a limited selection of barrel-aged Waypost variants.

Waypost (a marker to note one’s progress along the path forward) is an Imperial Milk Stout. Dark, rich, and creamy, the 2024 vintages of this recipe have been aged in Knob Creek Bourbon Whiskey Barrels.

To celebrate 8 years, we are proud to unveil two limited Bourbon Barrel-Aged Waypost offerings:

𝗪𝗮𝘆𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝗮𝘁 [12.4%] It’s not an anniversary celebration without an Imperial Milk Stout aged in freshly emptied Bourbon Barrels. Our classic anniversary ale returns, with Knob Creek barrels imparting bold sweetness and spicy woody notes to Waypost.

𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙡 𝙒𝙖𝙮𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩 [12.4%] This year’s most limited variant showcases Waypost Neat — with Sea Salt and over 10 lbs. of liquid Caramel added directly into the barrel during aging. A sip is almost literally like sampling a Salted Caramel (in the form of a boozy & beautiful barrel-aged beer).
