The Restaurant Manager position is a full-time role at The Kitchen, from the Virginia Beer Co. (7120 GW Memorial Hwy.) in Yorktown, VA. The Kitchen is a brewpub newly opened in late January 2026.
Role Responsibilities
- Work with GM to hire front of house staff (bartenders, dining room assistants, etc.)
- Train/coach team members as needed
- Help oversee and ensure consistent training of all new FoH team members
- Attend management meetings
- Work with GM & KM to ensure adequate BoH staffing
- Maintain labor cost of FoH staff (TBD)
- Work with GM to schedule all FoH staff, create daily lineups
- Work with Business Coordinator to field large party requests
- Work with Business Coordinator to coordinate event lineup
- Work with Management to coordinate beer releases & tap lineup
- Help GM to oversee regulatory compliance for FoH & BoH (Fire extinguisher training, First Aid/CPR, OSHA compliance, ABC compliance, etc.)
- Order NA beverages, canned beverages
- Organize all alcoholic beverages for the bar
- Ensure all dining room products are being rotated properly (snacks, N/A beverages, kegs, packaged beer, wine, etc.)
- Make sure the dining room is appropriately decorated for the season
- Schedule periodic deep cleaning shifts to stay on top of problem areas (cobwebs, beer garden maintenance, dusting high ledges, lights, shades, etc.)
- Maintain presence in the dining room during peak hours
- Assist with maintenance projects/schedule FoH team members to assist with maintenance projects as they arise
- Help GM to maintain FoH inventory (glassware, plates, silverware, beer, alcoholic beverages, NA beverages, etc.)
- Work with GM to schedule and facilitate performance reviews for all FoH team members
- Work with GM to schedule and facilitate team meetings (quarterly?)
- Address guest concerns in real time
- Adjust staffing as needed to accommodate pace of business
- Work with the rest of the management team on future growth/improvement planning
- Other responsibilities as needed and agreed upon to make The Kitchen’s growth a success

~ Direct Reports: FoH Staff
Position Considerations
~ We are looking for a candidate with at least 1-3 years experience managing a high volume restaurant. A culinary or college degree is not a requirement. We’re looking for a capable manager with great references & experience.
~ The brewpub is open 7 days a week (9 pm closing time). This role would need to be available on certain nights & weekends.
~ The Restaurant Manager will work with the GM to build a schedule to ensure they are available for office work, management meetings, and in the brewpub during peak business hours.
~ Please note that this role will require quite a bit of flexibility to start. From hiring & training, then working to help get this long-awaited brewpub rolling, we expect that everyone on the Management Team will need to be nimble to make this opening process a success.
