The Virginia Beer Company has opened our second location, The Kitchen, at 7120 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown. The Kitchen is a new brewpub that opened in late January 2026.
Calling all servers & bartenders! We are seeking energetic, front of house applicants to work collaboratively in this new space. We are slated to open our doors in the new year and are looking to build a team of folks interested in contributing to our company pillars of Beer, People, & Purpose!
Role Responsibilities
● Checks and maintains all service areas before, during, and after shift for proper set-up, breakdown, and cleanliness
● Greets guests in a friendly, professional manner and exhibits menu/product knowledge with helpful descriptors
● Check identification of all guests to verify age requirements to purchase alcohol, according to Virginia ABC guidelines, and encourage responsible consumption
● Adhere to all food safety guidelines and regulations to ensure guest health & safety
● Organized order gathering, inputting, delivery, and clearing of any and all food & beverage
● Monitor guest satisfaction through duration of meal, addressing any concerns promptly
● Process payments accurately – handling all cash and credit transactions with attention to detail
● Beer maintenance – organize packaged beer & kegs, maintain draft lines, understand VBC beers/brewing background
● Attend all scheduled employee meetings
● Act as a positive community representative for VBC — in person and online
Role Qualifications
● Previous serving & bartending experience preferred, with knowledge of food handling and safety practices
● Familiarity with Open Table & Toast POS a plus
● Ability to multitask in a busy atmosphere
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated during shifts a must
● Open availability including nights and weekends
● Excellent guest service skills; Professional demeanor
● Ability to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time
● Must be 18 years of age or older

Position Considerations
~ This location has been a long-time coming so we expect a fast summer once the doors & taps to the beer garden are also open. We want to build a team around individuals who are passionate about customer service and want to help us make The Kitchen a welcoming space for all.
~ This role will feature components of bartending (beer, wine, cider, seltzer, batch cocktails, & NA options) and table service. There are multiple bars throughout the facility (inside & out) and service sections.
~ A brewpub features on-site brewing and an in-house kitchen. Knowledge of and interest in creating something special from scratch is important!
~ Please note that this role will require quite a bit of flexibility to start. From hiring & training, then working to help get this long-awaited beer garden open, we expect that everyone will need to be nimble to make this location a success.

Position Benefits
~ The Virginia Beer Company offers competitive compensation commensurate with the industry, role, area, and candidate experience. This position is hourly + tipped (with overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 hours in a week…which would only happen in select circumstances as discussed & agreed upon with a supervisor).
~ Upon your first official day of employment at the brewery you will be eligible for select
team benefits (noted below), which are available for all staff members regardless of
full-time or part-time status:

(if desired) on the first day of your first full month with the company (following your

tenure, employee performance, and company growth. Once onboarding is completed,
you will have the opportunity to meet with your Management team for regular progress
check-ins. In addition to real-time check-ins with your Supervisor, additional evaluation
& planning meetings will be scheduled annually.
