VBC Collaborates with RPEO to Release Community Over Competition

Meet the RPEO team on Sunday, 9/24 from 3-5 pm!

We like to say that our beers are only as good as the people with whom we share them, and no beer we’ve released has embodied that statement like Community Over Competition! VBC is proud to team up with Real People Educating Others for the release of our first-ever craft beer collaboration.

True to their style, RPEO outsourced the specific additions to this small batch fruited sour to their community. The people have spoken, and we’re excited to unveil a new recipe brewed with Black Currants & Cara Cara Oranges! Colorful and vibrant, with a fresh fruit splash and a touch of tart on the back end.

The name Community Over Competition embodies the focus of RPEO’s Four Pillars:

  • Education
  • Service
  • Mentorship
  • Extracurriculars

We thank RPEO for their work in our community to host back-to-school drives, mentorship programs, coaching experiences, and so many other opportunities to gather together and support our neighbors. $4 from every 4-pack sold will be donated to RPEO to benefit their mission to build support networks for young adults in socioeconomically underserved environments.

More about Real People Educating Others:

RPEO, Real People Educating Others, is committed to initiating a collective youth development network that takes social responsibility to motivate and educate young adults in socioeconomically challenged, misdirected, and underserved environments.

With the alarming increase in incarceration, gang involvement, suicide, and other unbecoming activities, it has become clear that the future of our young people is at risk. Members of RPEO realize that in order to see some type of change to these circumstances, it will require sustainable interventions that will both prevent or reverse the mindsets and conditions that cause these behaviors.

RPEO has decided to focus on 4 pillars that will assist in making meaningful strides toward this effort. They include Education, Mentorship, Service, and Extracurriculars. In addition, RPEO understands that it is necessary to work collaboratively with other organizations and entities to ensure that all needs are being met.
